Miss Dowley's Termly musings
Autumn 2012
Hi All Welcome to the start of another fun packed year ahead here at The Brook. Both our nursery and Reception children have now started following their home visits. I have to say, the children who have started school and were in our nursery look so grown up in their school uniforms. I didn’t recognise some of them! The nursery children have settled in so well. It is such a calm and happy place each time I go down to visit and the children are all very much engaged in having a fun time. The lovely weather has seen them outside having so much fun in their playhouse and on the ride-ons. Our Reception children are enjoying finding out all about the routines of school. They have been visiting all the classes and finding out who lives where in our school. I have had lots of visitors to my office to meet me and I have so many new names to learn. Please bear with me on the gate while I practise. I am really looking forward to my weekly singing session with Ducklings and Goslings. They keep me on my toes! Our Year 1’s and Year 2’s have grown so much over the holidays. Year 1 are engaged in an exciting topic called ‘Wild Things’ and their classrooms have been transformed into a wonderful wilderness. You may have spotted their wild willow dome out on the front playground. They are loving it! Our Year 2’s have already been on a voyage on the Titanic in their topic ‘Lost’. Some were very lucky and travelled first class and some were not so lucky having to travel in 3rd class which was right next to the toilets so they tell me. We have so many exciting learning opportunities coming up this half term. Foxes have started their swimming sessions at K2, Year 1 and Year 2 are going to be celebrating harvest at Worth church and Year 2 are putting on a joint class assembly about their topic ‘Lost’. So please keep an eye on our newsletters and the class newsletters to make sure you keep up with forthcoming events. Happy learning! |
